大昭寺 在拉萨市中心，始建于公元647年，是藏 王松赞干布为纪念文成公主入藏而建， 后经历代修缮增建，形成庞大的建筑群。寺建筑面积达25100余平方米。有20 多个殿堂。主殿高4层，镏金铜瓦顶，辉煌壮观，具有唐代建筑风格， 也吸取了尼泊尔和印度建筑艺术特色。大殿正中供奉文成公主从长安带来的释迦牟尼12岁时等身镀金铜像。两侧配殿供奉松赞干布、文成公主、尼泊尔尺尊公主等塑像。

jokhang temple was first built in 647.legenD says that princess wencheng chose the site, because the location wotang lake was believe to be the heart of a female monster. unlike most structions in tibet, jokhang temple faces west.  with a floor space of 250 sqm, it emboDies both architectural styles of tang Dynasty anD characteristics of nepalese anD inDian architecture of precious relics kept in the temple the most famous is the golD statue of sakyamuni at the age of 12,which was brought to tibet from inlanD china by princess winching.
